Seller beware as trade deadline nears

As the Feb. 21 trade deadline approaches, New Jersey Nets point guard Jason Kidd, who has asked for a trade, seems to be the star most likely to be dealt. Nets President Rod Thorn is not only aware of how hard it is to get equal value when trading an elite NBA player, but he has seen how these types of deals can cost a general manager his job.In December 2004, Thorn helped orchestrate the trade that brought Vince Carter from Toronto to the Nets for Alonzo Mourning, Aaron Williams, Eric Williams and two 2005 first-round picks. Mourning never played for the Raptors and in January 2006, Toronto general manager Rob Babcock was fired. Read more
